Marc Herstein, a Park Slope native, recording artist, dad, and NYC teacher will take seven lucky Campers on an eight day immersive Hip Hop songwriting, recording, and performance experience.
Marc will host a portion of RTB camp at a soon to be announced full service audio recording and sound treated recording facility
Days are interspersed with outdoor trips where songwriting, group brainstorming and research will all happen in the beautiful outdoors
Marc guides the group through the collaborative songwriting and recording of a structured Hip Hop song. Campers choose to rap, sing the chorus, “ghostwrite”, perform, or all of the above.
Campers receive Raise The Bar certificates, and a professionally mixed and mastered MP3 of their song!

Q: HOW ARE THE EIGHT DAYS STRUCTURED?
A: THE CAMP IS STRUCTURED WITH THE FIRST 3 DAYS OF OUTDOOR WRITING, BRAINSTORMING AND EXERCISE. THEN THE GROUP WILL TAKE 2 DAYS TO PRACTICE THEIR SONG, FOLLOWED BY 2 DAYS IN THE RECORDING STUDIO, AND A FINAL PERFORMANCE DAY WITH RAISE THE BAR CERTIFICATES DISTRIBUTED WITH COPIES OF THEIR SONG. WE WILL TAKE DAILY TRIPS TO PROSPECT PARK, ONE DAY PER WEEK TO THE BROOKLYN BOTANIC GARDENS, AND OTHER DESTINATIONS TBA.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
A: ON BAD WEATHER DAYS WE WILL SPEND MOST OF OUR TIME IN OUR TOP-OF-LINE RECORDING STUDIO FACILITY. WE WILL HAVE BREAKS AND TAKE SHORT WALKS PERIODICALLY ON RAINY DAYS.
Q: HOW DOES PICK UP AND DROP OFF TIME WORK?
A: ONCE ALL SEVEN CAMPERS HAVE BEEN REGISTERED, I WILL CHOOSE A SPECIFIC LOCATION CONDUCIVE TO ALL FOR GROUP PICK UP AND DROP OFF. WE WILL THEN WALK AS A GROUP TO OUR FIRST INDOOR OR OUTDOOR DESTINATION. THERE WILL BE A STRICT 10 MINUTE WINDOW FOR AM GROUP PICK UP. STUDENTS MUST BE PREPARED AND DRESSED APPROPRIATELY FOR RAINY WEATHER.
Q: HOW ARE THE SEVEN CAMPERS CHOSEN?
A: CAMPERS ARE REGISTERED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. REGISTRATION ENDS ONCE THE 7TH STUDENT IS REGISTERED.
Q: WILL YOU BE RUNNING OTHER RAISE THE BAR CAMP SESSIONS THIS SUMMER?

Stonebrown is located at 262 Carlton Avenue. 100ft away from the 7th avenue B and Q train in Park Slope, and just a 5 minute walk from Prospect Park and the Grand Army Plaza Brooklyn Public Library. Stonebrown Recording Studios is a full service audio recording and sound treated recording facility with a work room, pro vocal booth, control room and a small lounge.
Marc Herstein, Park Slope Brooklynite, educator, entertainer and father, has a gift in fully engaging children and retaining their ongoing participation. Marc brings over 20 years of live performance, songwriting, beat production, video production, event production and audio engineering experience to a wide array of programming for pre-k through middle school aged children.
Marc began producing hip hop music in the late 90’s and was featured on the world renowned Lyricist Lounge albums. He has released records that have hit the billboard charts and have been recognized and quoted in Rolling Stone Magazine.
Outside of his entertainment and education experience, Marc has worked for three major nonprofit organizations in NYC and has led marketing, events and volunteer departments for 14 years. His own early education includes District 15's PS. 230 and MS 51, as well as Laguardia High School of the Performing Arts as a vocal major. Marc is known for his high energy and integrity, he is a champion of children and their learning in fun environments.
